The key to the 48 is to keep the converter locked as much as possible. It will only lock in OD unless you run in tow haul. Then it will lock in 3rd also. Anytime I hook to something it is run in tow haul.
I bet you a fresh service with ATF4..and only ATF4 will cure your shift issue...these trannys are really fluid picky.
