Dodge ram test drive tomorrow. 2500 CTD

I've got an appointment with the Ram Dealer... They have a huge markdown on their ram trucks...hopefully I can offset so,e neg equity. Lol

I'm looking to drive a few trucks and get in/out/around a bunch...

I have a few must haves, tow mirrors, backup cam, 8.4" audio system.

What are the thoughts on the crew cab vs mega cab

4x4 vs 4x2

Most of the payloads are north ok 2k lbs... Sooo I'm in good shape

What say you?

  • I had a megacab, now have a crew cab. I miss the storage in the cab behind the rear seat - it was really useful. Don't miss the battleship turning radius and parking it in the city. Prefer the crew cab now, but my kids were smaller when I had the mega, and it worked really well for us then.

So, if you have young kids, you might consider the mega.

Not sure about the new 14's, but my buddy's '13 2500 CTD Megacab has about 2200lbs of payload per the door jamb sticker. His is the Laramie ( I think) with the rambox.

    BigCity,

Riding in the back of his Megacab for 3.5-4 hrs was just as comfortable as being in the front seat when we headed north for "turn around" snowmobile trip. Drove up, rode 200 miles, crashed for the night, then drove home first thing in the morning. Can't compare to a crew cab as I haven't been in one of the newer redesigned crews, but having a reclining seat in the Mega was probably the biggest help.

    Good luck!
  • Its personal preference. I liked the mega cab but could not get a decent deal so I ended up with a Silverado. The Ram trucks are very nice.

You have the right idea with the 8.4 inch screen.

  • As soon as you start the engine, turn on the AM radio and see what you hear.
