Dodge towing mirrors
I have a 2001 dodge ram 2500.I would like to put electric towing mirrors on it.Is it hard to do.A garage told me that this can't. Any body doing the same thing

The (98-01) 2G mirrors are a direct swap. 3G mirrors (01-08) will work as well. The mirrors use the same connector, but there's an bracket that has to be installed between the mirror and the door. If you don't the mirrors will vibrate. 4g mirrors (09-current) won't fit at all. The mounting points and the base are a completely different size. There's only one size mirror between 1500, 2500, and 3500.
The 2500 and 3500's 2nd gen goes thru 2002. The 3rd gen arm that mounts to the door will NOT fit the 2nd gen trucks.
That is why the ONLY way to get "MOPAR" powered/heated mirrors for a 2nd gen truck is to have the 2nd gen base and 3rd gen mirrors. You will have to splice the wires since the connectors are different.
