John and Joey,
I bought mine new in 1998. I love the "BIG BOY" Dodge. There is no gas moter that can match its low end torque. Mine has the 3.55 rear end. At 55 MPH it tachs only 1600 RPM in over drive with over 400 lbs of torque. A quick downshift to Drive puts you at ~2500 RPM and gives you the 450 LBS of torque. Horse power for such a big engine is only 300 at 4000.
I haul a 10 ft. lance camper and get 10 to 11 MPG keeping it at no more than 60 MPH. Overdrive is very usable under load on the highway because of the torque rating. Cooling system is megabeast! Towing the boat with the camper 8 to 9 MPH. Mine is two wheel drive. It is very quiet and a pleasure to drive. I keep it covered at home and always use a windshield screen so I have not had the dreaded dash crack problem. Payload is great for this truck as well at ~3200 lbs limited by the stock rim size tires. Truck still looks new!
If the truck has proof of regular scheduled maintenance I would recommend it! With the price of new trucks today I'm hanging on to mine for at least 4 more years.
