- rbtgloveExplorerTowed a 24' TT many miles with an 05 AV. Scale weight ready to go was just over 4600 lbs with only a little water. Went over the Rockies several times without issues. The 4sp is not a great trany for towing and reves would get up on the long steep grades and would have to use the truck lanes but always made it. Would recommend installing trans temp guage. There is or was a Av Towing forum that might provide more info.
- SouthpawHDExplorerOne key thing to watch is the payload, or cargo carrying capacity. Should be a yellow sticker on the inside of the drivers side door jamb.
Payload gets used up quickly with tongue weight, so you'll want to focus your TT search on some lighter trailers for that reason. And do not look at the dry weights of trailers. A safe assumption will be somewhere between the dry weight and GVWR for total weight ready for camping. Then assume around 12% of that estimated total weight for your tongue weight. Good luck. - ChooChooMan74ExplorerI know Bikendan tows his Roo Hybrid with an avalanche. Basically a suburban with the back chopped off.
