Just curious if anyone here runs it? Is it worth the asspain? Do I need a beefed up alternator to keep up? I usually just run the fridge on LP without any issues as it murders the batteries with a quickness in DC. My camper came with an extended cord to plug in at the hitch so it plugs in at a y down there with the trailer. Were I to add a connection inside the box, I'd prefer something gooseneck compatible.

I run the lance Bed plug on both my trucks it will charge the batteries faster with the 8 gauge. My Dually F350 has both a fifth wheel and a lance bed plug. I never use the fridge in 12v but I could. Standard Alternator on both of my trucks. Hitch plug is occupied by my horse trailer

No. My truck already had the standard outlet plug built into the side of the bed. The camper dealer changed out the Lance camper's "special" plug to a standard seven pin connector as a condition of purchase.The 400 watt solar charges the batteries while driving down the road or parked.When I sell the camper it will be compatible with any trailer plug.

Your truck probably already has way more alternator than you could ever use.When I had a truck camper, I upgraded the truck's wiring to 8 gauge up to the 7 pin plug, but I saw no need to use a separate plug. I was trying to reduce voltage drop so as to increase charge rate.I'd spend your money adding solar and more/better batteries before I'd waste my time with a second plug that will make a minimal difference. 8 gauge wire at 13.7 volts or solar at 14.8, which will put more current into the batteries?

When I upgraded my truck, I removed the dealer installed wiring from my old truck. I reused the socket connection but ran ithe pigtail to the back of the bed. I hooked the 5 wires for the camper lights to the trailer connector and ran an 8 ga from the engine compartment (with 40 amp breaker) to a separate connector for the power and ground at the rear. It was not that difficult and new truck has beefed up alternator.Rick

Yes, I run the Lance plug. I had to install a bed plug as the truck did not have one. Made sense to install the right one for the application rather than mess around with the camper wiring. It is just wiring, it is no big deal. Makes sense to me to do it right rather than try to find an excuse to do it marginally.

My Lance come with plug already converted to standard one, and I never had motivation to install Lance plug.
Those blades plugs have poor reliability records, so would I need higher charging than standard, I would install dedicated 12V plug used in forklifts.
Than my new Ford come with build-in inverter and I am considering using truck 120V for camper refrigerator.
Than those refrigerators sip so little propane that the only motivation for running on electricity is to avoid open flame at gas stations.
But as forum members pointed, there are no records about gas station blown up by RV refrigerator. Maybe such accidents never happen, maybe those who made them can't talk anymore?

I'm in the process of installing the Lance bed plug and 8 ga wires to the truck battery in our 2018 F350.

In the 3 previous Ford trucks we had, I just used the factory wire to the 7-way plug and it never worked properly. After about 5 hours of driving with the frig on 12v, the camper battery would be pretty much dead.

It's encouraging to hear it makes a difference. Sounds like the smart thing to do is just jam a 7 pin in the bed and make sure the power wire is an 8ga. Makes me think about running an 8ga to the trailer plug too as it also has a battery. My camper has factory solar, but I don't think it's working properly. When I stored it outside last year with everything off it killed the batteries in a few weeks.
