Back on the 8 ga wiring. The first test of the wiring was driving about 8 hrs up there running the frig on 12v. So when we finally got there, I was real interested in checking the battery meter in the camper to see if it was charged or dead like our old camper. Jumped in there and pressed the battery button and sure enough it read 1/3 charged. I was pretty pissed off after all that work/money/time running that big wire and the batteries were only 1/3 charged. Then I remembered the frig was still on 12v. So I turned the frig to gas and checked the batteries again and they were 100%. I guess the 30 amp draw was pulling the voltage down.
The big test will be when we go out west and drive all day in +100 degf heat and see if the batteries stay fully charged and the frig stays cold.
