does it hurt a f250 gas motor to bumper pull 10,000 lbs?
I know diesel has more torque but just a simple question for my phycological purchase. does 10,000 lb towing put strain on a gas motor enough to make it hurt it?

No, are you talking new 6.2 or a 1988 with a 351W?
Big difference in original capability, not to mention the other end of the spectrum is a 30 year old antique that isn't 100% unless it's restored or ???- A question about a “f250” would be better answered by telling about your f250’s numbers.

Simply stating an "F250" could mean any of hundreds of configurations of trucks manufactured over the last few decades. They could have anything from a small block gas engine to a big block to a V10 to a diesel with numerous other driveline choices. So no, they are not all the same.
Either way, 10,000 pounds isn't that much for a 250 series truck of most any description. Some are capable of pulling well over that amount. I doubt very many made in the last 15 years were rated for less than that.
What do you mean by strain? Anytime you use any machine you are moving it closer to the point where something wears out. Everything wears out eventually.- I pull that weight easy with my GM 6.0 gas.

OP, long answer short; No.- No! Properly equipped i.e. gearing, motor and driveline it will do just fine. My gas V-10 is rated at 11,500 towing.
