In the late 70s we tent camped near Jasper Provincial Park in Alberta. Shortly before that, a family was camping there and one of the children was asleep with her/his head against the exterior fabric of the tent. A bear came along a took a swipe at the bulge in the tent. Can't recall if the child died or not. They likely had food inside the tent. I still clearly remember DW dousing the picnic table with white gas before going to sleep...
