Gee-buzz guys!!
Straight piping means to do cat delete...still run muffler! Then buy the Smarty Jr. safest programmer on the market and designed specifically for the Cummins.
The muffler on the '05 is more restrictive than the cat. The cat will raise the EGTs more because of what it does but it is a straight threw flow. The muffler is not. BTW, a straight pipe to me is what it says, straight pipe from turbo back.
And universally a straight pipe is just that, and devoid of mufflers or anything else.
Dont pull the cat, it has nearly no effect on flow and it has no effect on power.
You don't want to straight pipe a Cummins. The noise is not only unbearable when towing but the sound itself is hideous. Some engines sound good with straight pipes but the Cummins isn't one of them IMHO and the drone will force you to stop at the first muffler joint to have ANYTHING installed.
