Dometic thermostat temp change

We are out on the shakedown trip in m our new rv, and the dometic thermostat is acting up. We have it set at 71, and most of the times it stays but sometimes it jumps itself to 90 and once dropped itself to 40. Has anyone had this happen before? Is it a faulty thermostat?

  • This does a reset:

    System Initialization
A system initialization will need to be performed by the installer after
    the system is installed.

    • Make sure the Single Zone LCD thermostat is in the Off condition.
See page 4, “Quick Reference To Control Buttons”.

    • Press the “+” button and, while holding it, also press and hold
the On/Off Mode button for three seconds.

LCD will show - - . Press the On/Off Mode button again to turn system off.
    This completes the initialization.

    see manual page 3

Yes the capacitive touch looks different but functions the same as the old style with buttons.
If you have the old style with click buttons, I recommend the newer capacitive touch model.
  • I have the same thermostat on my Cougar and have noticed some miscues when adjusting the temp. But not to the degree you're experiencing.

Sure sounds like yours is defective, a call to the dealer should get you a new one, unless he needs to see it fail.

Its an easy swap just three wires.

Not sure the model number it is called a dometic capactiry touch on campoing worlds website. It is a digital unit (black single zone) with power and mode on the right and up down arrows on the left. The touch on it seems very sensitive.

  • We have a new trailer with the Dometic digital one, and it works perfect on both air and heat.
I am guessing yours must be defective

  • Need the exact Thermostat model name and number.
    Otherwise it sounds defective.
