Dometic Wireless Thermostat Remote

All, I have wireless Remote Comfort Control unit that controls the thermostat for my Dometic air conditioning\heating unit. Here is what it looks like

http://tv.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/dometic/remote_comfort_control.html?p=1

It has died. I get no digital display on the front of the unit I have tried numerous sets of batteries. These remotes are apparently no longer made :( had I know that was going to happen I would have purchased a couple of extras.

Here's my question. I have found only spotty references to replacing systems like this and in one of them it mentioned that after the replacement the heating unit could no longer be controlled. Can anyone give me guidance on how to fix this problem. I live in Alabama, it's going to get hot, and we are going to have to be able to control the A\C but I don't want to lose my heater either since we some times camp in cooler weather.

Thanks in advance........
  • It is happy camping with the over ride as long as it's not too hot or too cold. The default temps just aren't quite right. Putting in a wired thermostat is a pain I didn't want to endure. If I could easily switch out the receiver and get a wireless thermostat I would
  • I removed a remote infrared thermostat system from my 5er, sounds like it may be the same as you describe. PM me, I think I still have the thermostat around here.
  • I have one also, but the roof air unit has a button for manual used too.now it's all happy-camping
  • Can't you just pull the existing receiver and put in a convententional thermostat and forget a remote? I don't know that system but it should have a receiver that links up with the remote. Just take out the receiver.
