I think you would have been better to isolate the problem with a meter ....while the symptom was there.
I'm afraid you disturbed a bad connection that caused it to start working, but may fail again......definitely wiggle all the connections you can to see if the problem can be duplicated.
Intermittent problems are tough to resolve until it stays broken til you can isolate it.
