They are 10ga AWG (5.27mm/2) wires at the breakers, (I can read the wire id on middle 3 wire)
Good call on using the 20amp IMO. Conservative nominal capacity is more like 15amp though can carry up to 40. Unless your constantly popping up-sizing generally not a good idea, and then only until problem can be addressed.
