I think there are only 4 states that allow double tow to require the 1st to be a 5er. You need to check the laws for each state you will travel through. I have been double towing a 2200# boat for 7 years throughout Idaho and Montana. I had a local shop that specializes in frame mounted hitches for TT's add the hitch. It is rated for 500/5000.
