my wife and i have not had a 5th wheel only the current 33 ft TT with one slide. its a "couples" trailer meaning no bunks. just the wife and i plus 4 small dogs. we bought it 4 months ago. after a couple of weekend "glamping" trips we loved it so much we soon starting thinking "should we have started out with a 5th wheel for more size and comfort?" instead of having to upgrade latter?" 4 months later i think we picked a perfect size for us. big enough to have plenty of living space, and small enough to tow with a f250 gasser. i do love the slide in living room and would not want a non-slide tt for us. i can hook up and unhook WDH quickly now after gaining experience. completely setup on a full hookup site and breakdown in 30 minutes including backflushing blacktank. for us i don't think a 5ft wheel will be in our future. with all that said every family has different wants and needs so you have hundreds of sizes and models to choose from. we recently met a couple who had downsized from a fiver to a 20 foot tt and were much happier. he had grown tired of the same issues as yo u mentioned.
