One way to troubleshoot wind noise is to tape off the gaps with tape. Duct tape or some other type and start driving. You will no doubt need a helper to add or take away tape from the drivers side as you will not be able to use that door during the test. Once you locate the problem area, you can work on the correction. Don't forget the molding around the windshield too, especially if you've had the windshield replaced.
Noise like that drives me nuts. And I've noticed that the weather (humidity) makes a difference too.
Leaving the tape on permanently and climbing in and out of the drivers window may be acceptable in certain areas, but generally is not a good solution. ;-)
