Driving with camper windows open?

We have had the camper for 4 months now and it has worked well. With the weather starting to get warmer and the sun showing up around here I was wondering about traveling with some of the windows and/or vents open in order to keep the camper cool. Does anybody have any experience with this? Are there any downsides to this? 60 mph winds in the camper or getting a lot of dirt in the camper going down dirt roads?

Specifically I was thinking about opening the pass through window with one or two of the top vents (both have max air covers on them).

Thanks

  • If you have covers over your roof vents, such as Max Air, you can drive with those vents open. The configuration of the vents facing to the rear will suck the hot air out.
