On dusty roads i leave them shut. on hard surface, dustless roads we leave the side windows open to get some flow thru. We have had bad luck at keeping the fridge lit when on propane, so having the side windows open, at least a little bit keeps the fridge lit when traveling up to 50 mph. Above that speed is a crap-shoot. It must be some kind of pressure up the fridge chimney vent that helps keep it lit. We never leave the roof vents open when traveling: too hard on the plastic covers.
