And he is correct it is, yet drive an Interstate in a summer thunderstorm and you see plenty of people driving with the 4 ways on. Guess the flashing lights somehow improve the traction of their vehicle as they haul a** in conditions that cause a rational person to lift off the 'go' pedal a bit.
I lived in florida and when the monsoon thunderstorms hit i put on my flashers when visibility is extremely poor. Reduce speed of course but flashers are the only thing you can see in that kind of down pour. Do not want to get rear ended either. I will use them when needed.
