gas vs diesel is another 'can of worms' but for long distance hauling with no limits including in the mountains, and for a 15+ year lifespan, seemed like diesel was the way to go.
Which is exactly why I bought a DRW diesel. You can never have "too much truck", which is the main reason I bought the dually.
After several long trips (1000+ miles each way), through the mountains of Utah, Colorado, Washington, diesel is so much less effort to drive.
I can't see myself ever owning a gas truck as my RV hauler.
Some people can't justify the cost and will switch back to gas after owning a diesel.
Not me.
I convinced my dad to go diesel in 2006, even though at the time I didn't own one. My brother bought a 2008 3500HD DRW in 2008, and had the idea of "you can't have too much truck" when hauling a camper, which is what he planned at the time.
His logic made total sense, which is why I bought a dually.
For what I do, dually is an excellent choice because I haul a heavy camper and tow heavy at the same time.
