DRW regrets?

I used to have a TC on a SRW F-350. Large pucker factor when on an off-camber dirt road, or with strong gusty side winds. So when I went back to a TC this year I put it on a Dodge 3500 DRW and was amazed at how much more stable the ride was. Gone was the sway and the wind no longer helped steer. After a few months, no regrets and as far as I'm concerned it's the only way to go.

Only for the largest campers with the dry bath do you need a DRW truck to carry the load. For anything smaller, i.e. with a wet bath, the weight can be carried on a SRW truck.

I have used DRW trucks to pull horse trailers and the lack of a turning radius was part of the price. For a camper that required a DRW truck I would sooner get a Class C motorhome and have a fully integrated vehicle and also save a lot of money in total.

For snow or off the pavement use DRW is a decided disadvantage as compared to SRW vehicles. Even the military avoids DRW for all its big trucks and goes to larger tires instead to have a SRW vehicle.

I was recently stuck in the mud, when I really shouldn't have been....and it is easily blamed on the DRW. I just need another truck for getting firewood.

Other than the off-road performance, which I often could really use....I don't regret DRW at all.

I just need a half ton SRW truck for heading into the woods without a camper.

I've had both and there is no comparison from a SRW to a DRW. I would not trade the dually off for any SRW and love the stability and weight carrying capacity. Others are not as adamant as me so it's just an opinion and you must realize not everyone loves the dually.

x2 on that point. Although we have a srw truck, it's amazing how much surface area they have. I always wash our truck by hand and it's tough trying to pull-off a "quick" wash.

Have both. Been driving a Duramax DRW for 6 years with our monster camper it handles wonderfully. This spring we got an older F350SRW and a smaller Bigfoot. It is currently in Houston waiting for a RORO ship to Colombia. Our trial trips with it showed the increased stability, comfortable ride and not getting blown around by trucks, etc. Granted it is tough to compare the older Ford to the GMC with the improved suspension, turning radius of under 2 city blocks, and increased power. We'll stick with the dually for this country.

Love my duelly, drives and handles like a sedan.

I'd like to have a really small popup like a Four Wheel Camper on a Tacoma or the new Chevy Colorado for serious off-road use, but I wouldn't give up my DRW and big camper to do it. For the trips with my wife and dogs I don't think we could go any smaller on the camper, and I wouldn't want to put that thing on a SRW truck.

Yeah, I've got regrets. I got a silver one and now I see them everywhere. Should have got a white one like my old one.

The lane ends right before the bridge so we had to merge in. I just turned on my blinker and started to nudge my way in and a big place just opened for us. Never had that happen with our other car, a Honda Fit.
