Fifth wheels by nature pull in a stable manner regardless if the truck is a DRW or SRW. What is important is being within the mfg's specs. DRW's are generally needed when the fifth wheel GVW is above 16k lbs. Also one needs to consider if the DRW is acceptable when not pulling- they do have disadvantages in manuvering in the city, parking, off-road and snow/ice. From what I have seen on the highway, many DRW's are over kill and not really needed. If one needs a DRW they should look at a heavier truck than a 1T-- like a F450 or equivalent Chevy/Dodge.
