DRW Stability
Been reading the SRW vs DRW threads... I have never towed with a DRW and I'm curious what everyone means by "stability". Can you describe what you're experiencing that feels more stable. To say ...

OP here...
Like I already said I haven't towed with a DRW so I can't disagree with any ones personal experiences or opinions. But I do appreciate every ones participation and contributions to (hopefully) a friendly discussion.
I have little doubt if I were to tow my 5er with a DRW I would probably feel a difference. Whether that difference is attributed to the dual wheels or the heavier suspensions of the dually is what I question.
If the opportunity ever presents itself I would welcome a test drive towing our 5er with a DRW. For the record I'm very happy with the TV in my sig.. it tows our 14k GVWR trailer without any stability issues.
I started the thread to better understand what "better stability" towing with a DRW really means and why is it more stable.
This is speculation on my part but from what I have learned so far... the primary function of the dual wheels is to support the increased payloads that the heavier duty suspensions of the DRW can handle. And the feeling of better stability is more the result of the suspension than the dual tires. Just as you would experience a more stable ride towing with 1/2 ton vs a 3/4 ton vs the newer 1 tons.
But the ENTIRE package is what makes the night and day difference. You keep trying to ignore that by focusing on what justifies staying with a SRW... That's cool, but if I were you I wouldn't try a test tow with a dually....
The more demanding the conditions, the more a dually shines.
I don't understand the tone of your reply?
Didn't I say if I got a chance to tow with a dually I would notice a difference?
I'm not trying to justify anything... I'm interested in discussing what specifically makes a dually more stable.
I'm not trying to convince anyone either way... this is just "truck talk" among fellow RVers.
Just do it then. I'm not the first one to say this here.
The only thing stopping you from trying it is you.
You keep focusing on the notion that a SRW can be just as good if it shared certain aspects of the duallys.
Your tone suggests that you are grasping at reasons to think that a SRW can be just as good as a dually at towing. That is a fallacy. A SRW can do some things better than a dually,,,,but towing isn't one of them. It is a trade off. Better city non towing usefulness at the expense of towing prowess. There isn't any free lunch.
And I like color. Sometimes I use blue or green.
It is a feature that is available to me, and I like to use it. Don't read anything into it.
Wow... talk about reading into anything.
All I wanted to do is discuss how and why the DRW is more stable.
I didn't start this thread because I'm considering a DRW... I'm not.
That may change in the future but as long as I live in Alaska its not a consideration.
I agree that after reading every page I feel like the OP is convincing themselves they are good with SRW. If a DRW wasnt more stable there would only be SRW. Unless there is a super single SRW 1 ton pickup.
