Dry cell Batteries while in storage

  • Gels are rare IMO, Don. Haven’t seen one in the field in at least two years.
  • Are you sure you don't mean gel cells?

I'd fully charge then disconnect the batteries.
  • A dry cell battery is a flashlight battery. You have either maintenance free flooded lead acid (not a good choice), AGM (likely), or Luthium.
Only leave them plugged in with a good 3 stage charger. AGM won't freeze.

    Or possibly Lithium.
  • Thanks a bunch. You got me, I never hear of AGM battery. I don' know it's one you don't ever put water in.
Around here they call them Dry cell.
I guess I'm going to have to go pull one of them out and see if it has the name or some thing on the side.
  • Dry cell batteries? If you mean AGMs, they are not dry but sealed. Same precautions as “wet” unsealed batteries.
