Those are different lines/different purpose.
For filling up the bags you don't need high volume, especially with small compressor.
Now for pressure releasing on road bumps, you NEED the volume.
I found picture of MB Airmatic struts.
The supply tubing is 4mm, what is less than 1/8" ID , but on the left you see the reservoir with huge hose for fast reaction on rear suspension.
