I upgraded from 800 to 1200 lb bars and discovered that the 1200 lb bars are about 3/4" shorter.

I think that's exactly what happened. He had the setup complete with my old 750 lb bars which were too light. He gave me a set of 1,000 lb bars so I just gave him my 750's. I wish I would have compared them first because it makes sense, shorter bar, less spring.
