You said you have family with you, assuming kids. You'll need a crew cab, yes? I'd say generally anything over a 12k FW is going to need a dually for better carrying capacity. You'll have more lateral stability with the wider stance of the dually truck. If you need a 4WD then know duallies are supposedly not as good in snow/mud as are SRW because the tires don't dig in as much, at least according to those who are in the know.
