Excuse my newbie question but is there any tricks on how best way to line up the inner tire valve stem to make them easily accessible from the outside?
There's really no way to make the OEM short valve stems more accessible. You either will need to replace them with longer versions or add extensions.
Extensions have developed a reputation for losing air pressure. What I found out was that you only want to add extensions to metal OEM valve stems and you also want to make sure the extensions are good and tight and then keep them that way. Be aware of the effect of centrifugal force on the extensions. Use the shortest (metal) ones that will work.
It helps to have good gauges too. I have a Milton S-986. Milton does not make cheap stuff but Amazon is your friend.
