Forget your car P tire experience when it comes to choosing LT tires. Apples vs oranges. I had nothing but trouble with certain Goodyear P tires on cars but truck tires are another story.
I see some folks with 235/85 on older DRW trucks and the tires are too close when loaded. Not a good idea. LT215/85-16 and LT225/75-16 have come OEM on one ton DRW trucks. Later models came OEM with the 235/85 tires.
I keep AT type treads on my trucks. My old '98 beater 3500 DRW chevy 4x4 I keep ATs with larger voids and lugs as its in wet muddy pasture/worksites much of the time.
Michelins are pricey and there are just as good less pricey tires out here. IMO tire brands are like a Ford vs Chevy thing. Just pick the size/tread type/brand you like in the price range you can afford.
