Dually valve extensions?

My Ram dually has factory valve extensions. They are plastic and difficult to my dually valve chuck on. I usually lose air until I finally get the air chuck on just right. I just bought Milton 4" extensions. Chrome plated brass, quite substantial. I haven't put them on yet.
I was wondering if they will mess up the tire balance. Any opinions or experiences?
  • My Ford came with "pass through valve caps." When I first got it even though I had a dually air chuck I didn't know I had the pass through caps I found getting them off was a the hardest part of checking the tires. Then I realized I didn't have to. :) With the air chuck its not bad at all to work with the tires

    Here is an example:

  • I took the extensions off and threw them away. Instead I use a basic plastic cap. I find it easiest to use a dual head tire gage and a dual head air chuck. I can reach between the tires easy enough.

I tried the chrome brass extensions, no balance issues but the inside tires deflated repeatedly.....

  • If you install them opposite of each other, the weights will cancel out.

They're the straight ones, right? How do these help? Seems to me they would make getting to the valve stems more difficult.
  • TX,
Good to know.......I also have a new RAM Dually and need to do this. How about a couple of pics when you install them...........
