Dump Stations

I have noticed that in some states some of the rest areas on the interstate will have dump stations. Is there some place where you can find a list of rest stops that have them? Also any truck stops or other places (other than rv parks) that might have them?

  • +1 on public works.. I have one less than 1/4 mile from my house, if I happen to be home during standard working hours.

I also found a hole covered by a hinged metal flap on my property.. Looks suspiciously like a sewage drain. I wonder how to test it before I use it?
  • Yeah, some RV friendly travel centers will have them. If you happen to be going through Iowa, just about all of their rest stops do, which was super nice. In a pinch, some campgrounds will have a dump station near the front that non-campers can use, but you usually gotta pay.
  • The sewage treatment plants on our side of the metro area have free dump sites for RVs and mobile food trucks.
  • Hi, we cook bbq competitions and there is never a dump there. I know you asked about dumping while on the road but if it can wait till you get home these work great. I like it cause I can quickly dump my tank with my regular stinky slinky at the cite and not hold up the line. Then when I get home I can spend the 20-30 minutes it takes to get the tanks spotless. Again best of all if there is a long line or no dump station I can use this at home. I can also dump if driveway camping at fiends or family's too. Oh one more thing, you can pay up to $15 for a dump station around here.

  • I know a lot of Pilot/Flying J's have them. Sign up to get a rewards card and it will only be 5 bucks compared to 10. Plus you get discounted fuel pricing as well as other discounts.
