Dump the Micro-wave

Love my micro. Would never take it out. Do whatever works for you :)

Our range oven is the best large bread box money can buy when it's not baking anything! Dark, handy, low and out of rising heat summer heat or winter furnace blowing heat which causes baked items to mold fast, easy to use and reach, and not only holds/stores bread, but all baked goods plus cookies carried and whatever else you want to put in it. Leaves a lot more room in the RV cupboards. This also leaves the MW empty and ready for other item storage. A double win and free because it's already there! Just need to use that lump on the top of your neck to create good ideas.

Our microwave holds bread more often than nuked food, but is nice to have when needed. The oven stores onions and garlic, except when I bake something.

Our soon to be delivered Jayco 28RLS has quite a bit less storage than our 5th wheel. Never thought of using the oven and microwave for storage. This will come in handy! DW uses our microwave for popcorn on every trip. Other than that, it wouldn't be missed.

I think a good compromise might have been to just leave microwave in place and use it for storage!

I use our microwave, stove and oven as often as I use them at home, so can't imagine removing either one of them. Guess it depends on your lifestyle while living or camping in your RV.

Couldn't agree with you more as you got it RIGHT and whether you have kids or not with you. A lot has to do with being in total control of your life, living, traveling, convenience, knowing what's in the food you are eating, and getting a better bang for your wallet bucks!

Nobody is going to take our microwave out of any of our RV's nor the propane oven. Not only extra storage may be had somewhat when on the road, but can't use the appliance if it's not there when desired for use.

Having a convection oven/microwave combo unit solves both the extra storage and having both an oven and a microwave too. Runs great off a battery bank with a 1500 watt or larger inverter or a 1500 watt or larger generator which are both simply great for so many other things usage needs/desires. We have both the generator and an inverter in our RV's and if revising to an combo micro/convection unit would thus have the best of all scenarios as there's also always the propane range.

2500 watt inverter with 5 group 31 deep cycle batteries and a 2000 watt EU 2000 Honda generator in the 5th wheel.

1500 watt inverter with 3 group 31 deep cycle batteries and a 3400 watt built in propane generator with our TC's two 30# PP tanks in our big Lance truck camper.

Had a 2000 watt inverter with 4 group 31 deep cycle batteries and simply moved the Honda generator to the TT as it's portable and so is our 6 gallon aux gasoline long run supply tank.

Our motorhomes always had both the inverter with a battery bank and a built in generator too as why not?

Always had and have full use of everything in the our RV's by our having plenty of propane and gasoline or diesel no matter where we happen to stop for a just a few hours or even days and external hookups not ever needed as our RV's always had and have liquid tanks too and are truly "Self-Contained" not wishfully so! Again, why not? Aren't you and yours worth the real comfort and convenience?

We use our microwave, A LOT.

We have never used our oven but a microwave, it really comes in handy for warming up premade meals while traveling.. We stop at rest stops or even parking lots and fire up the genny..

Just 2 minutes each we have a piping hot meals..

No long waits in "fast food" restaurants, no hit or miss quality of restaurants, no expense of restaurants.. Not to mention not having to deal with tight parking or bad placement of restaurant parking..

Even while camping, we will make extra food for one meal, then the next day we simply pop the leftovers into the microwave, and in several minutes we have a very fast high quality meal..

Far, far cheaper than paying a restaurant price.

Example, I can buy a good steak at Sam's club for $6 per lb.. Go to a restaurant and order a 6 oz steak.. That restaurant steak will cost you $10 for 6 oz.. Or about $28 per lb..

Now days most folks WILL want a microwave so you might wish to store it and then if you want to sell your RV put it back in..

We use micro-waves a lot at home and the trailer. Very convenient.
