Dump Valve Leaking

When back flushing the holding tanks, I forgot to open the T-handle to actually fill the black tank. A lot of water pressure built up in the little 6" section of pipe after the T-handle.

Now I have a small drip coming from the dump valve even when the t-handles are closed and cap is on. It appears to be coming from where you connect the hose (just as if I left the T-handle cracked open).

Is there a easy way to fix this? I was thinking maybe greasing the valve could help a bit?
  • Should be 4 bolts, one on each corner. Maybe 3/8 or 7/16 wrench. Pretty straight forward. Don't over tighten it will make valve hard to open/close.
  • Some end caps only have two bayonet grabbers and some have 4 if yours only has 2 go buy a 4 point cap. Even if you replace the valve the 4 point cap will keep things closed better.
  • I usually put a cap with a good seal on it till I get around to replacing the valve. I have at one point put bearing grease into slide groove after dumping one time and it did help but only temp solution at most.

Buy a rebuild kit and rebuild it. Two major valve mfgs; Valterra and (can't remember the other one). The two are not interchangeable.
  • Pull it apart and inspect for cracks, then replace the seals or the entire valve as needed.
