The repair kits I have seen will take care of most valve leaks. I went too far and bought the whole thing, including the cable and handle. Didn't need that much but I changed it since I had it opened already. The gate part of the valve that stops the "water" also has a rubber ring seal on both sides. I will fit backwards to take care to get it right. I used a couple small blocks of wood to hold the pipes slightly apart and not crack anything. Once it was done and the bolts tightened, I had water in the black tank to check for leaks before I put the belly covering back on. hth
