Dumping grey water

Is there no problem dumping grey water on the ground in campgrounds?

My grey water doesn't have food particles or grease. It's only hand soap, or dishwashing soap.

  • Depends... We were in a state park in NM and they said grey water on the ground was OK to water the plants. But, the problem would still be that the hose is used for black water also and might have some nasty stuff in it from your last dumping.
  • While there are remote places where dumping is allowed. For the most part it is illegal to dump grey water at any CG. Without getting into the contents of the water.
It would create a huge mess if every camper were allowed to dump 40 gallons of water on the ground whenever they wanted.
People just aren't that smart. We can barely use the designated dump station without chaos. Dumping grey water is illegal. Do not do it. There can be fine and penalties if caught

If you washed dishes, it will probably have grease and/or food particles.
i don't wash dishes coz I only use disposable plates n spoon n forks all the time. There might be in very rare occasions of washing pans but that's about it. I use disposable n throw them to trash.

Not good for the environment and for any groundwater that maybe a source of water supply for cg or local town.

It's not allowed in any campgrounds I've ever been in and is illegal in most locations. Even though it's not real "dirty" it does have particles of fecal matter and food from washing dishes, showers and such. As a result, it will attract various kinds of wildlife and that can be a serious problem in some locations. Think lions and tigers and bears oh my!

Plus, if everyone did it we would be talking tens of thousands of gallons of gray water at a camp site every year.
