4.10 gears and short rubber you shouldn't have to touch it much. I lock mine into 5th on the 55 mph zones because occasionally the traffic will run 65+ and that's where my truck shifts into 6th (65 mph). I just lock it in 5th and cruise like you do in 6th.
There have been times I think if I drop a gear pulling a big grade it will speed up, NOT! This thing really knows what gear to be in.
When a truck gets down to 11-1200 rpm with your foot on the floor it does NOT know what gear to be in, sorry. It only happens in extreme situations so it's no big deal to manually take it for a couple gears. 2nd to 3rd on the Aisin is too big a jump for tall gears and tall rubber. Sorry
