Bet OP hasn't a clue about speed rating of the tires on that camper in tow as he's flying down the hwy........
Regardless of the speed rating on the tires, you better hope you don't have to make any emergency maneuvers while towing a trailer at 75 mph.
I have somewhat of a speed addiction. There is a time and a place for speed, but not while towing trailers.
This is the better argument to make... but in the grand scheme of things there isn't much real difference between 68 mph that a lot of people on here claim to drive and 75 mph. That 7 mph delta is really inconsequential.
The reality is that an emergency lane change at either speed is going to be very difficult.
The reality is that a catastrophic tire failure at either speed is going to make it very difficult.
The difference in stopping distance has significantly less to do with speed at such a small delta, and significantly more to do with driver age, reaction time and distractions inside the cabin.
People love to get all up in arms about driving speed, but will put a GPS right in their field of view, will refuse to use voice guided directions on the GPS and instead will insist on taking their eyes off the road to look at the screen. People will drive at 18,000+ GCWR while fiddling with the radio, or eating a sandwich, or taking pictures (seen a bunch of cell phone pics taken by some of these Internet Police while they are driving) or doing various other distracting things.
Again... I don't advocate driving that fast while towing, but the reality is that I tend to tow at 68 mph on the interstates when I am driving 900 miles to my destination. On occasion, I have sped up 72 or 73 to pass a line of slow moving traffic before moving back over and slowing down to 68.
I find that it is far more important to drive within your individual abilities, rather than get on the internet and make blanket claims about some other guys tire speed rating without having a clue about that guy's rig.
