Dutchman RV's are now under Keystone!

I requested a new weight sticker using the "contact us" on the Kodiak site. I got a reply from Keystone customer service. I wrote back reminding them that I had a Dutchmen Kodiak TT. I just got an email informing me that the Dutchmen RV's are now under Keystone.

It's unclear if this is anything more than a corporate consolidation for Thor industries or a real change that will consolidate the manufacturing of Keystone and the Dutchmen brands.

Is it a good thing? I don't know. What do you think?

  • so far like our Dutchmen, other than the usual initial quality items being fixed by the dealer.

It's a slip on the keyboard. Give me a break.

    I think he means Dutchmen.
  • Living near Elkhart IN, I can say that the last three years have been full of RV mergers and restructurings. There are about four major groups that manufacture almost all the RV brands.

Like most things of this nature it will take time to see how the various management styles affect the product lines.

Currently the RV sales and future business looks very good.

They are both Thor Industries owned along with many more!

Thor is a holding company. It doesn't get involved with any of its RV subsidiaries except as it pertains to financial performance. I talked to them last spring and they said that their role is strictly financial. Having said that, there is no doubt to me that with RV sales being affected by the long recession, it could be that Thor wants to combine brands to reduce overhead and administrative costs. People here seem to agree that Keystone is a good brand. There aren't many comments about Kodiak. Dutchman gets mixed reviews here, though many like them and their products. My experience has been generally very good. The TT is well built. Its initial problems with the water supply plumbing were fully resolved and since then things have been good. Customer service at Dutchmen has been good to me. I am wondering if some or most of the Dutchmen brands will disappear.
  • My one experience with Dutchman, wasn't a good one for a new trailer and my one experience with Keystone has been excellent. It will be interesting to see what happens to who and how.
