Can't imagine why I'd want to use other than the chip Ford put in there. Climbs 7% grades in fourth gear at posted speed limits and at 1800 RPM stock. This with 10,000 lb. against it's 11,300 lb. rating.
I've only towed once with mine so far, but pulling a 6% grade at 62mph in 4th, I was at 2800rpm towing 4,000lbs. I wonder why...we both have 3.73's.
There was plenty on tap though...I could have jumped in the passing lane! - CND_SuperCrewExplorer
- mhamershockExplorerYes, I run the 5* 87 tow tune all the time since 25k miles or so on my 2011 Eco. I have 52K miles now. I tow a 7500+ lbs toy hauler regularly. The tow tune makes a massive difference and it sucks going back to stock those rare times I have to (dealer service). I've had one issue with the truck - both exhaust gaskets blew out. It's possible that this is related to the tune, and it's possible it's not. I do know the exhaust manifold design is poor around the rear cylinders - not enough bolts adjacent to each other.

- dodge_guyExplorer IICan`t say for the EcoBoost, but for my V-10 it made a night and day difference. I got it just for the better shift strategy 5-Star puts into the tune! and the bit of extra power it gives. I also gained about .8 mpg towing!
