I have 2 3.5 Ecos now and have towed over 40k combined with them. 10mpg avg. with the 11 and 10.5mpgs with the 18. I had thought really really hard about going the 250 or 350 6.2 route last year when I did end up with the 2018 3.5. Reason being well I have 4 friends that have 250 6.2s at my disposal and I tested towing my trailer 7000lbs loaded as it usually is with 2 of them. 1 had the 4.30s and the other the 3.73s. All of them told me I didn't want to try it because I would hate it and to be honest with you I did. The 6.2 was gutless compared to the 3.5 and the milage oh the mileage at 62mph as I always set cruise at was lucky to get in the 7's towing my trailer on a 100 mile highway loop. The 4.30s was a lot better than the 3.73s performance wise but that mileage sucked beyond belief and they all laughed at me saying told ya so as they really don't care they use the trucks for their businesses and diesel is not a good option for them with all the stop n go. So everyone has their own opinions and preferences but the 6.2 in all honesty is the gas guzzler over the 3.5 daily and towing. Just read the ford truck enthusiast 6.2 forums and see the mileage those guys get towing trailers they all love their trucks as we all do but that's the one thing most complain about. You would have to really have the need to step up to the 3/4 or 1 ton and I would say anything under 7k there is no need at all not for me anyway as I calc every lb I put into and onto my truck to stay under its towing specs
