EcoBoost issue?

I am hearing about F150 EcoBoost owners complaining about fuel dilution in the engine oil. Is this as wide spread as it seems? It was mentioned in the lastest issue of "Trailer Life" magazine in the tech section. A quick google search comes up with several hits about the issue. Have any here experienced this? It could mean trouble for engine longevity (main bearings). Any F150 Eco owners do oil analysis?

I have read about a few people having this issue due to the direct injection and mostly because they push there oil change intervals to 7500+ miles. I change my oil every 4000 miles just to be safe. It's been a little over 2 years and 30,000 miles and she runs just as good now as she did the day I took her home. Ford in my opinion has hit a home run with the ecoboost engines and from there sales #'s they must be doing something right!! ;)

^ this. GM decreased their OCI due on DI engines due to this very issue.

I wish the people complaining would post their VIN#s.

I don't have an F 150...but I still don't think posting a VIN # on the internet would be wise.

It would weed out the people that don't even own one.

There may be an awful lot of independent mechanics out there who do follow-up when a vehicle owner gets fed up being put off by a dealer. (Just drive it until it dies). Guess their input doesn't count unless they go out and buy one.

  • Yep, read a few threads with Ecoboost owners complaining of this fuel in the oil problem. May be a result of direct injection but not sure. Not a good thing.

Glad my truck has the 5.0L and my wifes Escape has the 2.5L N/A engine. Can't believe Ford is pushing these turbo engines with few other choices, if any, on their car and SUV fleet. They need to stop this none sense before they follow AMC!
