Wow, no disrespect there, huh??..My son is a Detective with local law enforcement and I'm quite proud of him and respect the guy's who try to maintain the law....."coppers" is a bit derogatory...
Listen pal, I grew up in an Irish neighborhood in Chicago and lived in Chicago for 64 years. I had cousins and uncles who were coppers, neighbors who were coppers and knew them in social situations all my life. And I never knew a copper who didn't refer to himself as a copper. But that was the big city.
On the other hand I never heard a cop call himself a LEO, though a knew a couple of ironworkers named Leo. And then there was Leo Gorcey...
OK, I DIDN'T grow up in the neighborhood of Chicago, and at almost 65 yrs of age, it was considered a "cut" when one called a Police officer a "copper"...different regions, different verbiage....I also don't get sarcastic when trying to understand or explain something.
probably not really your "pal" either with your constant attack type posts...I'll get over it..but when you went with "meter maids", dog catchers" and on...I took it a different way...Again, guess it's a regional thing and the way one was brought up.. If I offended, I apologize.
oh...I'm also Irish, coal fields of WVa, (where I was born and raised), were loaded with Irish immigrants WAYYY back in the 1800/1900's.....look it up...we weren't just in Chicago:R......also never met an Ironworker that was any tougher than a Coal Miner...BOTH extremely tough jobs years ago...I too know from experience.....but I don't call officers of the law, "coppers"..again, must depend on where one grew up.
