Wow, no disrespect there, huh??..My son is a Detective with local law enforcement and I'm quite proud of him and respect the guy's who try to maintain the law....."coppers" is a bit derogatory...
Listen pal, I grew up in an Irish neighborhood in Chicago and lived in Chicago for 64 years. I had cousins and uncles who were coppers, neighbors who were coppers and knew them in social situations all my life. And I never knew a copper who didn't refer to himself as a copper. But that was the big city.
On the other hand I never heard a cop call himself a LEO, though a knew a couple of ironworkers named Leo. And then there was Leo Gorcey...
Oh well, I may as well throw my 2 cents in here. Retired Illinois State Trooper. Had the pleasure, or displeasure (depending on where you are from) of working in and around Chicago. He was being disrespectful with his original post, I don't care how many relatives he claims to have had. And they don't call themselves "coppers" in Chicago anyway, they simply say they are "on the job" usually. He probably doesn't even know what they commonly call their badges.
