Besides, didn't Dodge come out with the diesel in the early 1990's in a half ton as well? :h
Be interesting to read some review on it.
No diesel in 1/2 ton Dodges trucks back then but half ton GM's had them in the early 80's. - TachdriverExplorerTo quote from the article: "The 2014 Ram 1500 with its 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 and standard eight-speed TorqueFlight automatic makes 240 horsepower and 420 pound-feet –"
Seems that previous threads discuss the viability but this is still a 1/2 ton (sorry for the connotation), BUT....the pulling power for its rating should be great.
Funny I remember buying my 1/2 ton that was 2 years old at $17k, now the pricing is up.. Encouraging to say the least that there are folks who can afford this truck, to me it is quite costly.

Be interesting to read some review on it. - Perrysburg_DodgExplorerThat flood of orders came from February 7-10, and that strong surge of interest apparently amounts to a new Ram record for the number of customer orders placed for a vehicle in such a short period of time. In fact, EcoDiesel models accounted for over half of Ram 1500 orders over that period, despite the fact that the diesel option costs several thousand dollars more than a comparable gasoline-engined model. That impressive total did not come entirely as a shock to Ram officials, however: "We knew customers have been asking for it," Nick Cappa, Ram Truck communications officer, tells Autoblog.
Well it looks like she's a winner, now if we can do something with the payload numbers by adding a HD option like Ford and GM has.
