Electric 120 volt heater

We've had 8 campers and three 1500 watt space heaters. All of them worked wonderfully and only 1 cost more than $20. It was the tall slender type that rotates side to side. We just left it in the travel trailer when we sold it because we still had the other two. One was bought at Home Depot for $19.95 and the one we bought because we forgot to bring the HD unit one time is an $18 WalMart product. We like it the best because it's the lightest and smallest and most importantly, the quietest. All were purchased off the shelf so I don't have links to them. My main point here is that you don't have to spend a lot of money to get warm when you need to. The cheap WalMart unit has been working just fine for about 4 years now. Most of them have the standard features like "tip-over" protection and auto shut off at critical temperatures.

When doing dispersed camping, I've even ran my EU2000i out at the end of an 80 foot cord and chained it to a tree, and used it to power a heater all night.
At times it will get TOO warm due to the small space of a camper.

This time of year, Wal-mart is a good place to pick up a heater - they have every size and shape imaginable.

Understanding heaters.

First a watt is a watt is a watt. What is different is how various heat sources warm you up--not how they heat the air.

Convection heat the air and then the air warms the objects. Often these include a fan to help circulate the air. The safest of these are the oil filled units, because the surface of the heater doesn't reach the combustion point.

A radiant unit heats the objects which then radiate themselves and warm the air. Typically these are ones that glow "cherry red". I love how these work--but they need to be used in a prudent manner.

My favorite heat source is the electric heated carpet. No more cold floors.

I find oil filled units lovely for use with a generator or when there is limited shore power amperage. Warm up the rv--then shut down. The warmed oil will "coast" for a time. At night I use the battery bank to operate a heating pad. When I feel cool, I'll remote start the generator, turn the oil filled back on--and of course recharge the battery bank.

I can, and do heat 100% electrically.

Actually,I am not recommending one for a TC..A TC is small in comparison to the other RV's out there and any electric heater should run you out of them....I use a milk house heater now if I am plugged in and it is to much..

I chose to go with the little buddy heater instead of the Wave 3 heater everyone uses and I did to.It is to just to hot on the low setting for temps in the low 20's in my 9.6 TC..Live and learn.The big buddy did well in my 30 ft TT..And I have a Wave 8 going to waste right now..Guess I need a bigger RV..(laughing)

Jaycocreek, can you be more specific about what heaters you are recommending?

I have used about every heater out there in my RV's from my motorhomes/fifth wheels/travel trailers and truck campers...

Without a doubt the infrared heaters put out more heat than any of the others in an RV...Not even close...When we bought out house it included a Sun infrared heater.Amazing how it heated 1300 SF in normal temps here.

In a 30ft travel trailer it heated great down to the teens.To big for a TC so I lent it to my son who heats his smallish house with it untill it gets really cold...

Next would be the milk house heater..Just does a great job period for a 1500 watt electric heater but the infrared blows air like no other 1500 watt heater.

It just works, no matter what others say about wattage etc, from my use in Idaho in the winter and I have tried them all.

The have 3 heat settings....wattage use.

We use a Vornado MVH heater. It has 3 wattage settings and a adjustable thermostat for your desired comfort.

We used 2 of these clicky to heat our 40' fifth wheel all winter, we temps down to 7*, kept us at 68*
