Not a single person has yet to explain to me what problems EV's are actually solving. They are creating new and different problems many of which contribute to the very climate and ecological issues they were touted to solve. A claim by the way that was all a ploy simply to garner votes and pad the pockets of the few using taxpayer dollars.
And the silly claim that if you have an RV you already own an EV is complete grasping at straws. My RV won't move an inch under "EV power" Sure many of the items on an RV use batteries. So does every other ICE vehicle for the past 5 decades. There are also many systems that don't use batteries, like the AC, Microwave an not the least of which are the actual engine and generator - well they do use a battery to start, so there's that.
Back to the OP, I am pretty sure that ICE's will remain as long as there is demand. Once more EV's hit the road, electricity demand will go up and so will prices for electric. Simultaneously fossil fuel demand will decrease and so will it's price. Raw materials for batteries will become harder to get and EV prices will start to climb as a result along with more ecological impact for mining - rinse and repeat. At that point, along with another political shift and the understanding that we aren't really "saving the planet" some real head scratching will start to happen.
