Electric Brake Controls?

I thought I started this topic a while back & yet cant find it?

Anyways being I will have my trailer in couple of weeks I need to go get a Brake controler & wonder what you use & what you like or don't like about it?

I don't wanna break the bank getting a high dollar trick control that would likely not offer me much over a basic one?

So tell me what you think?
  • That makes no difference to the brake controller, what matters are how many axles, how many sets of brakes, etc.

The prodigy can handle up to 3 axles with brakes on them. I've had 2 axles with 2 sets of brakes in the past on a horse trailer, it was easy to configure and worked great.

I've also towed across country in the winter with it, never had any lockup issues. It even tells you when there is a loose connection, which is nice to know.
  • I'll be pulling up to 7,500 lbs behind my truck camper with a 2,500 lance on it.
  • I have a tekonsha prodigy. Love it. They've got some new fancy computer ones out now, but mine just keeps ticking. Works great, and they still sell them.

I've towed through mountains and across the country with it, on multiple trailers. It's easy to install, easy to setup, and just works.

    Check them out on amazon:

  • I have a Tekonsha 90160 Primus IQ Brake Control and use it with a single axle popup (~2k dry, up to 3k loaded) and it works very, very well. It was a snap to install (etrailer.com instructions and materials) and it's very simple to adjust. You'll want to get a progressive controller - the older timed models of yesterday belong there!

    What will you be pulling?
