Wow, it's really amazing and pleased me after seeing that. really helpful option. stsmark wrote:
On the Tesla Motors Club forum folks towing Airstreams and other TT are talking about 125 miles before hitting the next Supercharger.
A guy went from Auburn CA to Truckee CA via I-80. Its about 7000 ft vertical to Donner Summit. He made it to Truckee with 37 miles left. He said purposely doing 45 uphill for range anxiety. There’s a long down hill from the summit to town and the regen braking only allowed him to break even powerwise. Crossed the summit with 37 miles and hit the charger with 37 miles.
I have never had a chance to talk to any of the X drivers towing thru here. We see them fairly often but usually something like an A-Liner. Saw one at the town dump site the other day towing an 18 foot ski boat. Think he was from the valley though. Had BC plates. Probably a good fit for local camping though. Most people here never go more than 100 km to camp around here.- stsmarkExplorerOn the Tesla Motors Club forum folks towing Airstreams and other TT are talking about 125 miles before hitting the next Supercharger.

- pianotunaNomad IIIHi Durb,
Sorry. I did misunderstand you. I'd not dream of towing with my Elantra. I suspect anyone who does so must be quite a risk taker. Please accept my apologies. - DurbExplorer

Hi Durb,
Extremely well. Some one did a multi thousand mile trip with a Tesla, towing a small teardrop trailer several years ago.Durb wrote:
How well will it tow a travel trailer? This is a tow vehicle forum after all. California's emission rules are onerous on their citizens. That is why they are paying a dollar more per gallon for their fuel. Don't want them creeping into my state.
Not sure how they tow as I have never driven a model X towing a trailer but we do see them towing little RV’s like the little Airstream, the a liner type trailers etc fairly regularly here in B.C. not surprisingly mostly with California plates.
I wasn't criticizing the towing prowess of a 400 horsepower Tesla. I was responding to a post extolling the virtues of a gasoline Hyundai Elantra that got 49 MPG; tow rating 750-1150 pounds. pianotuna wrote:

Hi,
I don't see it as unfortunate. I see it as the future.
My car is an Elantra 2013 variety. If I am willing to drive it at 50 mph (and I am) the fuel mileage is 48 mpg (US).Durb wrote:
