I wonder how many EV naysayers on here are going to suddenly think EV's are the best thing since sliced bread because it has "Ford" in it's name?
I can assure you that it won't be me. Most of the vehicles that I have owned have been Ford and I have been a fan of the Mustang ever since it came out. I have a 66 Fastback Mustang and a 69 Cougar convertible in my garage. If they go to all electric vehicles I'd rather see the Mustang name die rather than be electric. If it has an electric motor in it it's not a Mustang to me and I bet a lot of other diehard Mustang fans will feel the same way.
Not disrespecting your opinion and you are certainly not the only one, but out of curiosity what is it about electrification that turns you off. An E mustang has better performance, handling, reliability, lower maintenance, better ergonomics, better safety etc than an ICE equivalent. Again, no disrespect here. Just curious on people’s perceptions.
Cheers.
Where did he say he was against electric vehicles. Just not reuse a name that has a specific meaning to fans. Many equate the mustang with the visceral feel and sound of a v8 engine. If moving to a new era treat it as such.
I have no idea if he is against EV’s. Are you confusing me with another poster. I’m asking what aspects of having a mustang an EV turn him off. I don’t really care but am curious. Maybe it’s the sound or smell. Who knows. Nothing wrong with that. Just curious.
No, not confusing you with someone else.
Your quote "but out of curiosity what is it about electrification that turns you off" Which is why I stated he did not say he was against electric vehicles.
And I noted "Many equate the mustang with the visceral feel and sound of a v8 engine. If moving to a new era treat it as such"
Just because someone has an opinion the electric is the best and nothing compares is missing the point. But I suspect you just didn't read or misread what I wrote.
Nope. Just asking the person why the electrification of the brand lessens it in his mind. Just a curiosity. Its obviously not the performance aspect. Just a curiosity. Sorry you find it offensive. I am sure his reason makes sense to him and that is the only person that matters.
Just letting you know what the Mustang fans are talking about. Not offended. Just thought you were looking for more than a sample of 1.
I hear ya. There is a guy around the corner from us who has a 65 mustang convertible. Freakin gorgeous. Red. Mint shape. I think he might be having a carb problem as it always smells like raw gas when he drives by. But he loves his car and always seems to be wiping it down with the McGuire’s detailer. It’s always super clean. I’m a convertible guy so huge fan.
Cheers.
